More MinGW Installation Manager glitches

David Gressett
I did an Update Catalogue and saw some  pauses, so  I then
looked for changes and found a new MinGW Installation Manager.
Mark All Upgrades produced one message box which informed me that
an uninstalled package, libcharset, had an upgrade. I marked it for
installation and started Apply Changes. It produced these messages:

upgrade: mingw-get-0.6.2-mingw32-beta-20131004-1-bin.tar.xz
lua error in pre-remove script:

install: libcharset-1.14-3-mingw32-dll-1.tar
 installing libcharset-1.14-3-mingw32-dll-1.tar
mingw-get-gui: *** ERROR *** C:\MinGW\/bin/libcharset-1.dll: extraction failed
mingw-get-gui: *** ERROR *** C:\MinGW\/bin/libcharset-1.dll: probable package conflict; existing file not overwritten
mingw-get-gui: *** ERROR *** C:\MinGW\/bin/libiconv-2.dll: extraction failed
mingw-get-gui: *** ERROR *** C:\MinGW\/bin/libiconv-2.dll: probable package conflict; existing file not overwritten

A subsequent attempt to uninstall libcharset failed; The
Installation Manager hung with the Applying Scheduled Changes
showing that it was removing libcharset. My guess was that I
should not have used the Instation Manager to upgrade itself,
and that the files mentioned in the messages are intended
to correct that situation.

I then shut it down, downloaded the latest installer and used
it to do a reinstallation. The next attempt to uninstall libcharset
produced exactly the same result, so that failure seems to be
independent of the Installation Manger upgrade problems.

The message displayed by Applying Scheduled Changes is

remove: libcharset-1.14-3-mingw32-dll-1.tar
 removing release libcharset-1.14-3-mingw32-dll-1.tar

which is exactly the same message produced by the previous
Installation Manager.

There seems to be a packaging problem here - the cached
libconv-1.14-3-mingw32-dll.tar.lzma contains libcharset-1.dll,
so a problem with "installing libcharset-1.14-3-mingw32-dll-1.tar"
is not surprising, but the Installation manager should not hang
at that point.
